Sixth Form News - 27th March 2026
We have had another busy week in the Sixth form, with no fewer than three trips off-site!
On Monday, the Year 13 students had the opportunity to visit Kempton Park Racecourse, where they enjoyed a maths-focussed behind-the-scenes experience; on Tuesday, they went to Ashridge to practise some of the skills they will need for their up-coming Duke of Edinburgh Bronze expedition; and on Friday, the Year 12s went down to Berkhamsted High Street on a PSD trip to work on their communication skills. Thank you to Mr Baker, Mr Brown and the other members of staff who made these trips possible. The students all had a great time!
Throughout the day, students took part in a range of engaging activities. They explored the winners’ paddock by measuring its dimensions, tested out some very old-fashioned scales to weigh themselves, and even had the chance to wear traditional jockey silks. One of the highlights was stepping onto the track itself, where students enthusiastically took part in their own races - I believe it was a photo finish!
After lunch, the group visited the paddock to see some of the horses up close before watching a live race, which added an extra level of excitement to the day.
All of Year 13 represented the school brilliantly, showing great enthusiasm and engagement throughout. It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all.

Last week, Erin enjoyed rubbing shoulders with celebrities at her theatre group. Here she is with her family, meeting comedian Alex Horne and ‘Gavin and Stacey' actor, Robert Wilfort.
We are in the season of college open-days and interviews, and many of our students have been out recently, visiting prospective new settings. Interviews have gone well and places have been offered, so there is excitement building - particularly amongst our Year 13 students. The Year 12s too are already looking ahead to life post-ERS. On Wednesday, Martha was really happy to be greeted by some old Year 11 friends, Connie and Alex, at a BCA open day.

In other news, we have had our very first practical driving test pass of the year! Massive congratulations to George in Year 13 who passed the test last Friday morning. Well done, George, we are all very proud of you!
Wishing everyone a happy and restful Easter break,
Mrs Allum and the Sixth Form Team
