Sixth Form News - 20th March 2026

The Year 13s had a wonderful time at Center Parcs last week, with the girls claiming it was, ‘the best week of our lives so far!’

They presented an assembly to the Year 12s on Tuesday morning, explaining what they did and answering questions about the experience. When asked what they most enjoyed about the week, the Subtropical Swimming Paradise was most frequently mentioned (with the rapids a particular highlight!) but students also appreciated the independence granted them and the opportunity to ‘hang out with friends’ and have fun.

From the adults’ point of view, the students were phenomenal! They rose to the challenges they’d set themselves, planning and delivering an impressive range of dishes including enchiladas, katsu curry and a pasta bake (which involved making a roux without a whisk - no mean feat, Lottie!) and culminating in a last-night-pizza-party with a quiz (thank you Matthew B), dancing and lots of laughter.

Every student stretched themselves and took part in a range of new activities, including football pool, laser combat, geocaching, puttify (electronic putting) and bowling. Watching them work together as a team and support one-another was a heart-warming experience.

When we got back, they wanted to know why we couldn’t have gone for a fortnight and were talking about going back as a group in the future.

Here’s what some of them said about the week:

‘Best trip ever! It was the most fun I’ve had in ages. Time well-spent - no shadow of a doubt.’ - Oliver

‘It was worth the wait.’ - Sofia

I had a brilliant time swimming and enjoying the other activities.’ - Matthew B

‘It was one of the best places that I’ve been to in the UK. The food and activities were so special and sophisticated.’ - Lillie

Hopefully their evident enjoyment and enthusiasm has inspired the Year 12s to start looking forward to their trip next year - the planning of which will get underway shortly!

Have a lovely weekend, everyone.

Best wishes,

Mrs Allum and the Sixth Form Team
