Sixth Form News - 1st May 2026

It has been another busy week in the Sixth Form - both inside and outside of school.

Oliver had an important college audition on Tuesday. Fingers crossed for a good result, Oliver! Meanwhile, Tuesday evening saw Matthew B at a bootcamp with his Second Amersham-on-the-Hill Explorers group. Despite arriving just in the nick of time because of a mix-up of locations, Matthew was able to take part in a range of activities including running and squats, and work with kettlebells. He even managed to do 30 sit-ups - very impressive, Matthew!

Last week, Lillie won a trophy playing for the Oxfordshire Cricket Club. Congratulations, Lillie!

Our other students are just as busy outside of school. Zach continues to enjoy volunteering at his church’s tuck shop, whilst Harrison has just started learning to drive (and not speed, which he claims is a miracle!), and he has just managed to achieve a higher level on his flight simulator.

Wednesday this week, marked the inaugural meeting of the new lunchtime netball club, run by Jess, Miss Bevis and Mrs Lyons. There was a good initial turnout and it looks like it will become a popular activity choice for the summer term. On Thursday, Ms Knox’s application of number class was busy making smoothies, utilising their maths skills to measure out all the ingredients. (And if there’s a better way to use maths, I’m not sure what it is!)

Martha is looking forward to visiting Chicken Shed this weekend for a theatre workshop. ‘Sunday Shed’ offers drop-in workshops and performance projects and it is held every Sunday at their theatre in north London. Erin is also looking forward to this weekend as she is very excited to be seeing Olivia Dean at the O2 on Saturday.

Just a quick reminder that the deadline to order a hoodie (if you want one!) is Sunday 10th May.

Wishing everyone a lovely long weekend - perhaps, like Miss Holden, you might like to catch the end of the spring flowers…
