Rowan News - 27th February 2026
Highlights of this week:
I hope you all had a lovely half term holiday - it has been great to finally see some sunshine this week and get outside for breaks and lunchtimes.
Although we’re not cooking outside every week, Year 7 are still doing outdoor learning every Friday, so please keep sending in the wellies and coats. Today we stayed (mostly) on the playground using compasses to find North and complete some compass challenges.
I am currently awaiting delivery of some new reading books so we will soon be sending home new reading books to year 7 to practise their daily reading. In the meantime, some old favourites will be coming home.
The year 11 AIM science group had a fantastic trip to London this week with Mrs Andrew’s to learn about buildings and structures at the Tower of London.
Well done to Oliver Hill who represented ERS as part of the table tennis squad.
Thank you to Tyler in year 12 for helping me get a basketball out of the top of the cricket nets.
Look forward to our creative Rowan pupils at creative arts evening next week.
Well done to Amelia - She has played with Hitchin Belles since she was six and in September 2024 they reorganised the teams as they had so many players. Her team were nearly all new to each other and had never played together. After 15 months of commitment and perseverance, from the coaches and the girls, they finally had their first win 4-0 - the delighted team can be seen below.
