Rowan News - 22nd May 2026
Over the past week I have seen some great qualities among our pupils:
Determination and perseverance from Jake with the fire steel in forest school last week was good to see, and even better was his joy when he got the cotton wool to light.
Creativity and good team work in year 7 PSHE where the pupils designed their own lunar hotels - with slushy machines and trap doors.
Patience and enthusiasm from Iona in year 9 when she taught year 8 how to use Scratch software - a lesson that the year 8 pupils loved.
More creativity from Mrs Mead’s year 7 English group when they used story cubes, both physical and online to make up some great stories, and went on to make their own story cubes.
Thoughtfulness and respect in RE when year 8 considered the Ten Commandments and wrote their own versions with rules that were important to them.
Friendliness and kindness to our visitors both this week and over the past weeks from everyone in year 7 and 8.
Maturity and kindness from my year 9 maths group when I returned to school after being ill - their concern and kind comments were really touching.
There have been lots of assessments this week - whether that be maths, maths Entry Level or GCSEs and everyone involved has shown determination and their best effort, and definitely deserve a well-earned half term break.
A massive well done to Oliver in year 10 who has been chosen to be a Youth Ambassador for Lords Taverners cricket club - fantastic news Oliver, and we know you will be an amazing ambassador for the club.
I hope you all have a lovely time in the sunshine and look forward to seeing you the week after next.
