Poplar News - 27th March 2026
This week, PIH continued with their topic about Italy. Following their session about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, they recreated the events in Pompei using Lego and identifying key aspects of the eruption. You can see their successful work below. In Maths, they learnt about bank accounts, jobs and why earning money is important. We cleared up some misconceptions about cost of living and house prices.
PRN have shown great enthusiasm across all areas of learning. In Literacy, they produced some powerful setting descriptions, demonstrating their creativity and growing confidence as writers. They have also completed their sewing unit and have some wonderful pencil cases to show for it.
PSS have been exploring the key features and vocabulary of rivers. During their lessons, they researched the River Gade and were delighted to find that one of its tributaries, the River Bulbourne, is within walking distance of ERS. Yesterday, they visited the site to launch their handmade boats, which they hope will eventually travel all the way to the ocean.
