Poplar News - 27th February 2026

This week, PSS began learning about forces and magnets by understanding that forces are pushes and pulls which can make objects move, stop, or change shape. They independently set up and conducted a comparative fair test to investigate how vehicles move across different surfaces, ensuring that only one variable (the surface type) was changed while keeping other factors the same. PIH started their new computing unit about AI and learned which parts of our houses can be controlled by Artificial Intelligence. The class debated for a while how sensors would be used to detect an unmade bed. One suggestion was that the sensors would detect too much weight on one side of the bed. PRN have been exploring tenths and hundredths as decimals in Maths. They have done a phenomenal job of using their place value mats to slide the digits one place to the right when dividing 2- and 3-digit numbers by 10. In Literacy, they have been working hard on their story maps for their warning story "The Caravan!".

The skiers have made excellent progress this term and, as always, we would like to invite parents to watch their children on the last two Tuesdays of term (17 and 24 March). The skiing is from 2.15pm to 3.15pm at the Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead. Please let us know if you would like to take your child home from the Snow Centre after their session so we can bring their belongings to the venue and sign them out for the end of the day.

You should have received a parent consultation letter for March 12 in your child’s home/school link book. Please let me know if you haven’t received it.

If you have any messages or information for the teachers, please use the Home School Link books which are checked every day.  I can also be contacted by email on ingrid.holt@eger-roth.co.uk, but if you have an urgent message please contact Suzie Bennett in the main office.

Kind regards

Ingrid Holt
