Poplar News - 20th March 2026
On Thursday, the Poplar children went to Tiggywinkles near Haddenham. They enjoyed watching all the rescued animals and learning about hedgehogs, the polecat and the deer in particular. It was lovely to hear that some of the animals will be able to be released back into the wild once healthy and fit, many, however, will have to stay in Tiggywinkles due to more severe injuries or when they are not native to our country. Thank you for all your donations. As always after a Tiggywinkles trip, the children are keen to help more and individual classes will decide whether they want to sponsor one of the animals.
This week, PRN have been working very hard. In Literacy, they have completed their independent writing! The children have come up with some incredibly descriptive warning stories. In PSHE, PRN have been focusing on respect and tolerance, working together they have shown good understanding of the importance of kindness. The children in PIH have been looking at weddings in different cultures in PSHE and continued to perfect their watercolour techniques in Art. They attempted a rather tricky cityscape with reflections in the water. In Art, the children in PSS designed stencils to create symmetrical, rotated and reflective patterns. They carefully coloured their work using a range of techniques, including shading, stippling and cross-hatching to add depth and detail to their designs. In R.E., we have been learning about the Easter story, discussing its key events and exploring why it is such an important celebration for Christians.
If you have any messages or information for the teachers, please use the Home School Link books which are checked every day. I can also be contacted by email on ingrid.holt@eger-roth.co.uk, but if you have an urgent message please contact Suzie Bennett in the main office.
Have a great weekend,
Ingrid Holt
