Poplar News - 15th May 2026

PSS have been studying the sculptures of Antony Gormley in Art. They explored how he uses different materials to represent the human form and experimented with creating their own ‘human’ sculptures using pipe cleaners and clay. This week, they enjoyed using modelling wire to recreate the human form, carefully observing and copying the pose of our class art mannequin. PIH have continued learning about flat-file databases. They managed to sort information about minibeasts and countries by records and fields and develop further questions about sorting criteria. In Literacy, PRN have reviewed their learning of fronted adverbials, expanded noun phrases, and relative clause and have used their learnings to create some incredible descriptive writing about The Talking Papaya. In Maths, PRN have shown great understanding of Money, creating a shop, converting pence and pounds, and calculating change.
