PE News - 27th February 2026

We hosted Chiltern Way Academy Wendover for a KS3 football fixture. As this was one of the final opportunities for Year 9 students to compete in a KS3 match, the squad was made up entirely of Year 9 players.

The match was played 7-a-side, and the students delivered an excellent performance, keeping a clean sheet throughout. They went into half-time with a 2–0 lead, thanks to a first-half brace from Ewan Menzies, who narrowly missed completing his hat-trick before the break.

The strong first-half display set the team up well for the second half, with Freddie Allen and Nathan Arkin extending the lead. Just before full time, Ewan completed his hat-trick to cap off an impressive performance.

The 5–0 victory was a fantastic result and reflected the team’s excellent teamwork, effective passing, and composed finishing.

On Thursday, a group of Year 7 and Year 9 students attended a very well organised Table Tennis tournament at Chiltern Way Academy.

It was a great morning and some fantastic Table Tennis skills were on display. Our group of 8 students were split into two teams with two other school teams also in attendance.

I am very proud of both teams for their efforts. Congratulations to Nathan A, Oscar F, Freddie A and Oliver H for finishing in 2nd place after winning 17 of their 30 matches. A massive well done is warranted for Sadia K, Heidi G, Archer H and Adam A who really made it difficult for the other teams to win against them and demonstrated 100% effort to the very end. Each member of the team is proud of their personal wins and achievements.

A further congratulations goes to Nathan, who was the final student standing in the Around the World game which concluded the event. He is patiently awaiting his medal from the event organisers, which he will receive in the near future.

Well done to all. Once again, you have represented the school excellently!

Stars of the week:

Poplar - Benjamin Lane - for great effort throughout the week in PE and great facts about Winter Olympics.

Senior school - Ewan Menzies for his man of the match performance in the football fixture.

Nathan Arkin - for his performance in the table tennis tournament
