PE News - 20th March 2026

On Tuesday morning, ERS finally played their netball fixture against Batchwood School after it had been postponed twice due to poor weather. It was great to get the game underway at last! The team was made up of girls from every year group, and despite never having played together before, they showed great determination and teamwork throughout. Although we did not come away with a win, losing 16–4, the team grew in confidence as the match progressed and gained valuable experience along the way.

Sticking with netball, The Staff vs Students netball matches, held in support of Comic Relief, were a brilliant success and full of energy, teamwork, and school spirit. Both games were closely contested, with the staff just edging the results 2–1 in each match.

In the first game, the staff were led by a standout performance from Mr Blackbeard, who scored both of his shots. The students battled hard and managed to get on the scoresheet through Tyler Wilson, but the staff held on for a 2–1 victory.

The second game followed a similar pattern, with another tight contest. This time, goals from Miss Lashley and Miss Bevis secured the win for the staff, while Jess Hounsell scored the students’ goal.

Overall, it was a fantastic event for a great cause, with plenty of smiles, competitive spirit, and impressive performances from both staff and students. The staff may have taken the wins, but everyone involved played their part in making it a memorable Comic Relief occasion.
