Oak News - 20th March 2026

A couple of interesting good news stories today from Oak Base:

As I was walking across the school my attention was drawn to a group of Year 9s enjoying the good weather while actively engaged in learning. I had to ask what they were doing and it was explained to me that  they were playing the 'carbon cycle game'. This is where each student acts as a carbon atom travelling through the different places it can be found on Earth, e.g. atmosphere, ocean, inside plants, animals, organic waste and in fossil fuels. By rolling the dice at each station, each carbon atom follows a different random path through the carbon cycle. This went a little over my head but they all seemed to understand and were having a good time!

Congratulations to Finn in Year 8 who completed  his 50th Parkrun last weekend. That’s a total of 250km run so far and he has now set himself the target of 100.

Well done Finn! Keep running!
