Sixth Form News - 22nd May 2026
This Wednesday afternoon, Mr Cairns and I had the pleasure of judging the results of a team-building project to invent, manufacture and present a new chocolate bar. The Year 13s have been working incredibly hard during Dr Bamford’s Employability lessons, experimenting with a range of ingredients to create their innovative new confectionery products.
We were invited to experience the Striking Firecracker, Cococraft Snap! and Cubix Chocolate. Given three criteria to judge, Mr Cairns and I were happy to announce that Lillie and Mrs Brampton had won the award for best name (Striking Firecracker), Eshan, George, Lottie and Rafi the award for best presentation (Cubix Chocolate - very cleverly moulded using ice cube trays), and Matthew B, Annabelle, Sofia and Matthew R the award for best taste (Cococraft Snap! - a take on traditional Rocky Road, with the delicious addition of raisins and coconut, and drizzled with white chocolate). Well done everyone! Same time next week?...
Over the last couple of weeks, Mr Baker has been working with both the Year 12s and Year 13s on ideas for stalls that they can run at the ERS Summer Fair on Saturday 13th June.
The students came up with some really imaginative ideas which they then put to the vote. The winning ideas were: Pin the Country on the Continent (Y13) and a Treasure Hunt (Y12). We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the event, which is always a fun day out and a great opportunity for our students to work together and socialise outside school hours.
In case you missed them last week, here is a reminder of a few key dates next half-term:
Saturday 13th June - ERS Summer Fair
Wednesday 17th June - Year 12 trip to Willen Lake
Thursday 25th June - Sports Day
Monday 6th - Wednesday 8th July - ERS Production
Wednesday 8th July - Sixth Form Driving Day
Friday 10th July - ERS Prize Giving Day
(*Dates are yet to be finalised for the Year 13 Duke of Edinburgh expedition and Year 13 leavers’ event*)
Wishing you a very happy and refreshing half-term break.
Best wishes from,
Mrs Allum and the Sixth Form Team
