About Statutory
There are certain areas of information that are published for statutory reasons. These are all integrated within the ethos of running of the school and have always been made available to parents but we now group them together under this heading so that they can be easily found.
The four key areas handled in this way are Safeguarding, Governance, Health & Safety, and wider school policies on specific subjects. Three of these are detailed below and the School Policies are grouped under a separate tab for ease of access. (Click here to go to School Policies.)
1. Safeguarding
The safeguarding of the children in our care is obviously a key element of the school, both professionally and pastorally. Safeguarding is now a very wide remit – from Child Protection through to cyber-bullying, to procedures and policies. We work to both national and local guidelines – our core training is provided by Herts County Council – and we have a Designated Senior Person and Deputy who report to both the Leadership Team and Board. All of this links back to our Pastoral Team where medium or long-term support is needed.
This is an on-going process and the policy continues to evolve to meet the changing requirements. Our Safeguarding & Child Protection policy document is one of the downloads within the Policies section.
2. Health & Safety
Health & Safety is a key issue for any school and we have policies and procedures in place to manage this both within the school and its grounds, and on school trips. There are designated personnel responsible for different areas - e.g. buildings, educational, fire risk assessment and procedures - and these liaise regularly through meetings and joint training.
All staff are trained in the Risk Assessment processes necessary for day-to-day work, activity sessions or trips and these are supported by admin back-up and controls. Reporting from this area goes to the Leadership Team and to the Board.
